Packing Wad Cartridge

When using the paintball cannons to launch paintballs, you must use a
packing wad or cartridge that will force all the paintballs out at the same
time with no loss of pressure due to "blow-by"
In a pinch, a small wad of cloth or paper towels work ok. Plastic bags
also work. Another idea is to use foam rubber (Nerf balls, etc.), but for
best results I use a homemade cartridge made from plastic cups. To make the
cartridge, pick up the smallest plastic Dixie cup you can find (depending on
barrel size). You will most likely have to cut them down further to make
then fit in the barrel. Once you have the correct size trimmed to fit (it
should be snug when placed in the barrel) then take two halves and glue the
cups bottom to bottom. I use a small amount of PVC glue to glue them
together.
When loading, put a wad in first, then the paintballs, then another wad to
keep them from rolling out. You will have to use a stick or something to
push the second wad into the barrel if it is snug like I said. If the cups
are too tight, then make longitudinal cuts from the opening of the cup
almost to the bottom. This will allow some give and make loading easier.
Once
it is loaded, it is ready to fire.. The 2 cups will keep the paintballs in
place and from rolling out of the barrel when on the field. Each wad can
most likely be used several times until it is literally blown apart by the
constant high pressure firing.
