The .30 Caliber Machine Gun

In our un-ending quest for realistic scenario paintball equipment, we decided to try making a prototype heavy machine gun. What we created was a hybrid 30cal machine gun replica complete with tripod.

The base of this gun is a Tippmann Custom 98 with a Psycho Ballistics full auto kit. Other guns or the use of the Tippmann full auto kit will require some modifications. The Psycho Ballistics kit is getting hard to find, so if you substitute, first make a template out of posterboard for the body and tailor it to fit your setup. A sheet aluminum body was fabricated to enclose the entire gun and pvc ported "barrel" added over the existing barrel. The tripod was conjured up by the butchering of a camera tripod. The tripod expands and telescopes to height of over 4 feet, making the gun easily used while standing.
The trigger mechanism is the stock pressure switch that comes with the full auto kit. The rate of fire is adjustable with the knob on the side plate. The cocking arm had to be extended several inches, so a long bolt was placed in the existing cocking arm of the Pro-Carbine. The 30 cal will run remote line co2 and will accept any hopper in the feed elbow on top of the gun. The rear dual spade grip handles are typical cabinet door handles found at any hardware store.

The "30 Cal" is capable of sustained fire of about 3-12 rounds per second. We decided to make this replica specially for the WW2 D-Day scenario game at Skirmish this Summer. We will be toting this baby along with our soldier uniform of the era at that 24 hr game in July. Don't miss it!

.30 Cal Light Machine Gun

The 30 cal LMG is the identical paintgun to the Heavy 30 cal, but it sports a bipod on the barrel instead of the tripod. This makes it a much easier gun to use on the field and on the run. The bipod is easily removed by simply sliding it off the end of the barrel.
